I have had a very busy month and have been essentially absent from this list. I have a big brag for my crew. My male Sinjin finished his breed CH a couple weeks ago at the big Denver cluster While I know that AKC breed ring is not fondly looked upon in this forum I will brag nevertheless as he is my first CH
What I am particularly proud of is that Sinjin was born on a cattle ranch out of working parents. He is not without his faults but not only does he have a brain but he is pretty solid structurally. I am not huge into the breed ring but believe that it benefits the breed to show working dogs in conformation and vice versa. It is not uncommon for my dogs to be the only ones with performance titles on them in the area that I show.
Coincidentally, Sinjin's second litter in Sweden was whelped the day before he finished. The bitch pup from his first litter is already excelling in tracking and competing in upper levels of obedience at 18 months old.
Another big deal at my place is I bred my Frost a few weeks ago to an older male: http://psychtkennel.com//planned.asp I will find out hopefully this week if she took. The male Robin is out of herding/working lines and was a top dog in the breed ring for years. His pups have a lot of working ability so I am hoping for a little more substance than what Frost has but still have that work ethic that I love in her.
I grew attached to Robin while he has been here and his owner is the only AKC herding rep so she is gone quite often. Based on this, his owner has given him to me. So while I might not get a litter, I did get a new dog out of this Robin and I have started training in obedience and I hope to get his CD on him this fall. He is 11 so there is some limitations to what he can do but in my house everyone does performance so long as they are physically and mentally able. Here are a couple pics of Robin and I:
Something tells me if everyone in the breed ring worked their dogs as hard as you do, more folks would look kindly on them! Great job and I hope you get some very cute, healthy working pups at the end of all this hard work!
What great news! Congratulations on everything, especially the CH!
I sure hope your Frost takes...I have been waiting on a new puppy for way too long now, and am overly familiar with things not going quite right with the whole breeding thing.
The irony that keeps running around in my head is that, much like in humans, the carefully planned and considered breedings seem to have so many things go wrong, while the unneeded/unplanned/oops kinds of breedings seem to happen and go so smoothly.
