I currently feed my GSD a raw diet along the lines of what most on this site do. He does get quite a bit of venison during deer season. But I have recently made a contact with a feral hog hunter, and could have access to about all of the meat that I could want for little to no cost. Hogs are a nuiscance problem around here and he gets several hogs almost every weekend of the year. Would there be any problems feeding this to my dog? Any certain parts to stay away from? Any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks!!
I have a friend who goes hog hunting at least once a year and loves the meat, so if humans can safely eat it, it will be fine for your dog. And from what I hear, there aren't too many parts of the animal (and regular pigs) which aren't eaten by someone somewhere, you should be find. Since these guys can be pretty big, you may want to avoid the leg bones since they could be pretty large / hard.
Someone on this board has a photo of their dog snacking on a hog's head, I just can't remember who at the moment!
There is a nasty little parasite that feral hogs can carry. Trichinosis. Freezing should take care of it.
As a side note, there is also another type of trich that infects bears, cougars, and some other predators. Freezing is NOT effective at ridding meat of these particular buggers.

Thanks Michael - I totally failed to mention the freeze! The bears and cougars and other preditors would fall into your "sharp teeth not eating sharp teeth" rule wouldn't they? Might be a good way for us still learning newbies to remember. :-)

That would be Debbie Bruce.
Who me?
That would be the head from a domestic boar, live weight over 600 lb.
I'm going to guess that most feral hogs won't get that big.
I regularly feed hogs to my dogs. My small Beagles eat pretty much everything but the skull, the thickest hide (on some boars the shoulder hide is over 1" thick) and the biggest bones.
I never skin them, I just cut through hide and meat to make meal size strips. If the hide is cut narrow enough the dogs can eat it. I save a lot of time and effort by not skinning the dog food. If the hide is too tough to cut you need to sharpen your knife.
A sharp, comfortable knife is a must. A dull knife makes me very irritable. I love my knife. And my good knife sharpener, too. I was very unhappy when I broke the blade on my favorite knife a couple of weeks ago.
