I understand that you were cross-posting rather than linking, but cross-posting here needs to be with the author's permission; in fact, permission from here is usually good, too. Thanks for understanding.
Here's my deal... I have a lot of animals. By 'a lot' I mean two parrots and a dog. I'm one of those 'animal-wing crazies' who believes there is a standard of care that needs to be extended to all captive animals that includes 1. Proper Nutrition, 2. Proper Socialization, 3. Proper mental stimulation, 4. Proper Physical exercise, and 5. Proper shelter. I don't have a problem with people who breed animals that provide all of these things. That being said, I know many people, who only have one or two dogs, that don't provide the 5 things I've outlined. The problem tends to grow exponentially as more animals are added. This article or protest doesn't outline the exact circumstances. To make a proper judgement, you would have to include:
How many dogs were present? How many people are responsible for the care of those dogs? Were the five criteria I outlined being met? Most county animal facitilities give animal owners lots of chances to clean up their act. It costs them a TON of money to impound animals. In the form it is presented, this article is nothing more that propoganda for people with no other goals than to make money by exploiting dogs.
