Daniel,
Bite training dogs is a costly endeavor. Even if you're a LEO or in the Military ( like you indicate that you are )and having the department pay for much of the costs, your out of pocket expensive for dog training at a serious level is going to run several hundred dollars a year. Equipment for bite training isn't cheap, and paying to get decent training costs cash - sorry, but that's a hard fact. Club dues for most SchH clubs is a couple of hundred dollars a year ( since I see that you're looking for one in N.J. )
If you're looking to do it on the cheap, just quit now while you're ahead - you'll save yourself a big hassle.
Daniel,
If you are training a MWD you should be able to get the kennel master to order the videos for you. I train with the local Air Force MWD's and the Kennel Master here was able to get a potload of Ed's videos for training purposes. Their dog's have since become much better in the last couple of years. Ya just got to know how to write the request. Good Luck........Howard
Try giving the dog more misses on escape bites. Might help bring up the drive to get to the sleeve. Also, challenge the dog while he is on the sleeve before slipping it. Make the dog fight for it.
Also, you don't want the dog leaving the field totally exausted........when you finish the work, the dog should be leaving the field really wanting another bite and not totally worn out.
