what are your favorite ideas for cheap entertainment for your pup/dog?
Tonight I gave LJ an empty 2-liter cola bottle, top removed, with several pieces of hard treats inside. He had a blast! LOTS of noise, but he had us all rolling, laughing at him playing with that thing. He's not yet big enough to get his mouth fully around it to tear it up, though, so for those with bigger dogs, watch out that they don't eat the bottle!
A few nights ago I put treats in an empty cereal box and closed it. He shredded that, but it only took a couple of minutes with the sweeper vac to get it up.
If ya'll get tired of my "question of the day," somebody tell me to lay off and just lurk a while :-)
Large cardboard box for Ranger -- if you can stand to clean up the mess. I throw one in the backyard every now & then -- when I'm feeling generous and it's NOT supposed to rain for a few days!

Max loves rugby balls. You can get them at the dollar store here. He goes crazy for them and loves jumping on then and biting them until they pop. Then he either shakes it to death or goes straight for the rip apart and kill.
They usually last quite a long time before the pieces are too small to entertain anymore.
I like your questions of the day. I used to let Ripley play with empty drinking water bottles until a friend reminded me that one day he'd find a full one and I'd regret it.

On occasion I make a straw ball which is just straw folded in half, tied together with straw and toss it over the kennel walls for the dogs to shred. Usually they spend time chewing, ripping, and turning the straw bundle into confetti. Obviously this is an outside game but I live in confidence that it has saved one or two rolls of toilet paper from a similar fate. Clean up is easy, I just mow the lawn.
There is something about shredding stuff that just makes dogs happy.
