Okay, groomers don't kill me, but lurking on this site (Leerburg) and on http://www.groomers.net/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi have given me an education about dogs and their owners that I have found priceless. My eyes have been opened. So, you can search all you like on the Groomers BSS without registering. Unlike here. They talk about products, tools, clients, etc. I find it absolutely fascinating. But it doesn't take much to keep me entertained.

Looking for opinions on de-shedding treatments, hoping someone will tell me they work.
Ripley and I are visiting friends this weekend. We're going to a house with white carpeting and furniture. I bathed and dried him with a force dryer last night, but not a lot of hair came out. I'm in a bit of a panic.
The magic solution to shedding all over is to feed your dog's well, brush/wash them at appropriate intervals (this does not mean bi annually), keep them clean and accept that no matter what you do, no matter what breed of dog, there will be some hair on the carpet. Give a giggle and just ask your friend for the vacuum to clean up before you leave, if they're your friend they really won't mind the hair so long as you put in an effort.
The de shed solutions do work as I pointed out in the pyre posting through the power of friction. The problem is that it's not a universal fix all and may cause skin irritation. Any shampoo can cause skin irritation but I've never seen quite as many reactions as I've seen with de shed solution. I don't use it at my current place of employment because of this. I also don't like that the shampoo companies who make this product don't disclose the active ingredient.
