Dom has developed a bump on his head. Its between his eyes. You can actually see it in my sig pic. The bump is not hard and does not feel like an abscess. Its kind of firm and squishy all at the same time and attached to the underlying tissue. Since it showed up it hasn't grown. I thought he might have just whacked his head off of something- he is very clumsy. But now I'm freaked out.
I'm going to have the vet check it out next week. Totally nauseous over the whole thing. He's about 8 months old. Friend of mine has a year-old GSD with a similar bump on the head. She said the vet said its a calcium deposit...
You guys ever have young dogs with mystery lumps/bumps? I need reassurance before my vet appt or I will never get any sleep...

In a dog that is only 8 months old, it's way more likely that it's just something benign than anything serious! But why do you have to wait until next week? they must be a really busy vet - ours is busy, but we can always get in at least the next day!

Holy cow, I cannot count the number of cysts and other lumps and bumps my dogs have had. The chances of it being something terrible are pretty small .....
Of course I would check it out. But at my age (mature ), I can look back and see that I did a whole heck of a lot of useless worrying about lumps on dogs.
Jessica,
My dog Kaia has a bump on the top of her head. I just had her in to see our Derm Vet for allergies, and he looked at it while we were there.
He said it was a sebaceous cyst and he punctured it to drain the matter inside it.
I would have your Vet take a look at it, but I just wanted to mention this to you, as in our situation it was completely harmless.
It is nice to know though for peace of mind.
