I second Randy...My dogs go nuts when the prong comes out..they know its time to GO!!!!!!
It's almost pathetic because we have an older dog that is handicapped, and she can't do the things she used to.
When we are taking the others out she comes running to go to work too.
I will actually put one on her...like she needs it...lol
And take her for a 5 min stagger about the yard.
She comes in satisfied and takes a nap.
And Randy is right...they all strut proudly...but especially her!
I also use the dominant dog collar as a backup when my dogs have a prong collar on. I have had them on occasion fail when needed the most & with the DD collar on you still have a collar on your dog if that happens. BTW..my dogs do their 'happy dance' when I take the prongs out because they know they are going to go out for a run. It is a tool, like any other and is effective or abusive depending on the hands that they are in.
Thanks Anne. I feel better hearing all this regarding how the dogs feel about the collar.
Mine is happy to hear the jingle, too!
Anna, to ease your mind a little, when you get the collar (and get the 'quick-release' style, Herm Sprenger that is sold here),
try it out around your upper leg. Then you can see what it feels like...and remember that muscles in a dog's neck are even tougher than those in your thigh.

Thanks Lynne, I appreciate everyone easing my mind. I am waiting until my husband can read up on how to measure this collar for Greta (he is the techical part of the family) so we can order one. I will read up on it also to see if it is easy to measure for. I want to make sure it fits her properly.
