The Mother in Law test. My MIL is not a dog person and thought they are all dirty, uncouth and should not be allowed in the house. With that in mind I was sure to bring Erika over everytime I brought Mrs Jones and the kids. I put Erika in a platz in the utility room where she can see us all in the kitchen and dinning room. When we go outside she gets to play with the kids and my MIL has warmed up to her. MIL now asks where Erika is at in the same tone as "where are my grandkids" Erika has now earned a spot in her living room next to the recliner.
I just want to add... In my opinion, Erika is the quintessential "family/working line dog"... She responds immediatetly to all direction from Dennis - with no hesitation. She only stops to ask "how high?" when he says "jump". However, when his kids are present - she is 100% trustworthy with them. I'm perfectly comfortable being around her (now that I've come to know both she and Dennis) but I would NEVER think of entering her domain without Dennis' permission.
A perfect, working - line, family GSD in my opinion. Plus she is purty and soft.
If she is anything like my Mother in Law, this would be a huge test! The only dog I have that would be allowed in her house is in a small wooden box! Great job! If you want her further titled in this area bring her this way.
