I just received a free crate from a friend who has no use for it anymore. It is still in perfect condition and more importantly is made of the heavy gauge wire and has the small 1 inch mesh. The question that I was hoping could be answered in this post, is that this crate unfortunately came with no divider for it, as the previous dog was full grown when the crate was purchased. It has unusual measurements of 48 L x 27 D x 31 H. I was hoping people would have suggestions on any sort of home-made divider you could make that the dog wouldn't try to chew up. I know I will be able to come up with something, but with a bit of luck, other people have had this same experience and have come up with some easy make-shift dividers, so that I won't have to do a lot of thinking. I do realize that you can buy crate dividers, but all of the ones that I have found are the wrong dimensions. The problem I have found with my crate is that all of the crates/dividers that I found for that size dog, are all 35 or 36 inches tall, which makes fitting their dividers into mine difficult. I truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to reply to this post. Thanks.

Well, I've put a smallish varikennel into a crate about that sized,( sideways)to take up much of the room in the crate, and that was ok...or I've also used plywood cut to size and just secured by wire ties to the crate walls...move as you need to...
You have the opportunity to be inventive and creative here
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
I have used old cardboard boxes, obviously this won't work with a very aggressive chewer but I have had good luck using them with pups in a "too big" crate.
Just get new boxes of the appropriate size as needed when the pup grows. (or chews them)
