Last night I let Ryuk out off leash. I neglected to see the complex's resident stray cat hiding in the bush...but Ryuk did....he scared the living hell out of that cat and took off. He did a mid chase recall back my side, full attention, and stuck to my side as I walked him back in side...a month ago he would have chased that thing until he treed it...then most likely climbed the tree after it -_-
Also, when we got back inside he curled up on the couch with OUR cat and rather than doing his normal move of kicking the cat off the couch (literally, he up and shoves him off with his legs, it's hilarious XD) they curled up together and grooming each other until they fell asleep. No kicking, hissing, scratching, tail grabbing, etc.
I think my puppy is FINALLY growing up a bit...we've spent this entire week off leash working in the field, even when other dogs join us he'll hold a stay until I make sure the other dog and owner are there for play. If they're not he sticks to his side of the field with the frisbee. He's been very nice to a husky with questionable dog manners and they've been able to play together, something the husky (while sweet and friendly) has never been able to do. Also, because it's puppy season we've had plenty of new puppies to play with and practice ignoring...it's amazing how satisfying it is when you're dog will perform all commands even with a puppy literally hanging off his tail or ear...
