I agree, I switched mine to all raw at 6 months and another at 12 weeks, both cold turkey.
For a long time, they loved everything and were fed twice a day until just recently. Both dogs now 2 1/2 and another 1 1/2 have snubbed their morning feedings and have opted to just eat in the evenings.
It is not my choice or preference, but I can't force them to eat so once a day it is.
At first I thought they were just being picky, so I started to look for ways to get them to eat something different.
Hence the use of EVO canned food.
Anyhow, they still get their raw bones in the form of chicken, and turkey and other sources when I can find them.
I also feed some mixed beef blends with organs and venison blends most of the time. In between I have rotated the canned to change it up.
I am still looking for a really super premium canned food for times when I need convenience for travel etc.
If anyone out there knows of one, I would love suggestions.
It sure looks like EVO/ Innova is off the list now that P&G is taking over.
Wow Charlie, 16 1/2 years, that is an incredible long life, I can only hope mine live that long.

Best thing I've found for traveling is Honest Kitchen. And, a swing past the local MegaLow Mart for cheap burger meat.
Dallas was one of the special ones. Although her diet helped, she had the genetics to do it -- her mother, Sausha, also had a good long life.
I've added some photos and remembrances to Dallas' page.

Yes, HK is a great food, they used to get that all the time, until they started snubbing that too! Picky kids......
They have not had Keen, so we'll give that a try soon.
Charlie, I just loved seeing all the pictures you have on the link you put up. I also re-read your tribute and found myself in tears again! ( when you put up the tribute the first time)Very touching!
What a wonderful dog, Dallas and boy Chance is handsome as can be.
Indeed you were a lucky man! Good genes and of course it sure helped to get a Leerburg dog. What many of us would die for these days, to get a dog bred by Ed and Cindy. You just can't get better than that!
Thanks Charlie, I really enjoyed seeing those pics and reading your special tribute to your sweetiegirl Dallas.

THK is my go-to for travel, etc. I'm sorry your dogs started snubbing it.

I strongly suggest not trying it out for the first time on a vacation. My dogs love it, but they were pretty suspicious of it at first, and I was glad I had allowed time at home to start with a thin THK "gravy" poured over the regular RMBs, then gradually upping the THK-to-RMB ratio. Now they drool when they smell it being rehydrated with warm water.
When I broke my hand last year, I bought some cans of food with tops that didn't need an opener. I read the ingredients: Salmon, chicken liver, broth, turkey, water (sufficient for processing), carrots, green beans, yellow squash, celery, zucchini, green peas, mustard greens, dried kelp, calcium citrate, flax seed meal, oats, pumpkin, sweet potato, ascorbic acid and was pretty happy with them. (Some dogs are allergic to flax, but mine aren't.) No salt or sugar or so-called natural flavoring. I haven't taken the time yet to read up on the food, since it was just an emergency measure, but my dogs sure liked it, and I didn't object to anything in it, and it had produce in it, so I considered it and the RMBs to be fine for the broken-hand time. (I was out of THK.)

FWIW, this was posted on another dog forum I'm on -
"The Procter & Gamble buyout of Natura (makers of Innova, California Natural, Evo, Karma, etc) is supposedly not a done deal. A Natura spokesperson said that if people want to make a difference, they need to flood them with emails and phone calls, and that they are listening. Email is: custserv@naturapet.com Phone is: (800) 532-7261"

Thank you Mara! I just sent off my email to Natura and I hope that others will as well.
I really appreciate you posting this info. Even though I do feed mostly raw, I just hate to see Natura be sold to P&G.
I will call them on Monday as well.
Aimee, I have looked into ZiwiPeak, but it is very expensive, unfortunately, but it looks like an excellent food. Honest Kitchen is about as much as I can afford, but thanks for the suggestion!

Ziwi Peak had a dried treat that just drove my dogs nuts for it. Mostly do to exchange rates, it got to the point where it was cheaper to use steaks for treats. The local store couldn't move any at that price.
