It's really sad how low the human race seems to be willing to sink to these days. But, it is also a warning to not confront persons who already obviously have a disregard for the law or even for good basic manners and consideration for others, on your own.
I hope they get the harshest sentence and/or fines possible for whatever the charges happen to be. They are disgusting people!
Scary. very scary.
Wouldn't it be nice if they got harsh sentences, made an example of and then maybe several hundred hours of service in the local shelter....where, with any luck they can clean lots of poop and get bite several times by big dogs that are in quarantine.

DITTO. ANY degree of compassion would be HARD TO COME BY in a case like this.
Unlike rage, aggression, apathy and the like, I don't really think compassion is something you can have too much of... if only the human race were overtaken by an outbreak of obsessive compulsive compassion!!

Sorry, but if I were those neighbors I would be sneaking out there and cutting the B-ball basket down. Hopefully I wouldn't get caught!!
Two wrongs don't make a right. I really hope the book gets thrown at these thugs and perhaps they learn something from it. I can't imagine raising three kids who would lack such morality.
I would like to think I am a gentle soul, but just in case I am not. My Dog of choice, is a working line German Shepherd with confidence in defense. I hope as I get older I can have several GSD. Dan
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself. ~Josh Billings
This whole thing made me think of justice and a story with a much better ending for the dog. A summer many years ago when I was a teenager I spent it with friends who had to move for work and needed someone they trusted with their Dobes. We moved them into a nice NH neighborhood. First Saturday night rolled around and about 1 or 2 in the morning a gang of teens came rampaging through on foot, yelling and threatening, vandalizing, throwing beer cans and tresspassing. Sissy stuff but darn annoying at that hour. We talked to the neighbors the first time it happened and they said it had been going on. When you called the cops they came too late...blah blah.
The husband of the couple I was living with decided he liked peace and quiet. Their dogs were a 50# bitch that was crudely attack trained by some drug dealer before she came to them and could really hurt someone. And a 100# male wuss who was winning in the obedience ring with 199 1/2s. He was very precise, brutish looking and very obedient to the three of us.
So husband waits for the gang to start through the neighborhood and goes out in his boxers, robe, pot belly and slippers... and Damien at heel. There weren't any street lights in this area so the lighting was lacking and basically only front house lights. Hubby goes out telling the idiots politely to knock it off some of us were trying to sleep. They get abusive and start toward him. Apparently in the dark it was hard to see the 100# red Dobe. When they got ten feet or so away and threatening Damien growled. Everything got quiet. (mind you I was watching from a second floor window a lot away and could still hear it all) Damien growled again and when one of the idiots stepped too close to his daddy Damie stepped closer too. They could see him now. There was a shout of "Holy $#&* he has a DOG!" and then a good deal of girly screaming and running. The rest of that summer was very peaceful. Saturday nights especially. And most of the neighborhood took an instant liking to their new neighbors.
