Thank you very much for the responses. I want to add a couple points below.
He loves his crate. I never have to luer him into it or when I tell him to go to place he quickly goes.
When I have him on a short lead in the house with his flat collar, he listens great. He will walk around the inside and perform all the commands he knows without a problem. Same thing on the outside as well.
I have been using YES and making sure I charge it with treats he likes.
I'm having a hard time getting him to play tug. He will not hold onto the tug toy (I purchased the new red one from Leerburg) after the intial bite. I will keep working on it.
His drive was great up till about a month ago. Like I said in an earlier post, he only started this stubborn mentality about a month ago.

Craig,
I admit to being a bit confused... I thought he was ignoring you and blowing you off. Are you saying if the leash and flat collar are on he obeys but if no collar is on he ignores you?
Is it possible that a month ago you may have inadvertantly corrected him too hard with the prong? I am not inferring you did so deliberately; it is not hard to over- correct a low drive dog. Just trying to ascertain what might have happened to change his attitude about working with you.
Also, has it gotten a lot hotter where you live? The heat plays a part in my dog's enthusiasm (as it does mine...)
