As I train my 7.5 year old dog for BH, I am looking ahead to next puppy. In some ways training this dog is mostly preparation for the next pup.
As an athlete (xc skiing, cycling) in my younger days I had a training diary, and with a coach, a training plan.
I want to map out a sufficiently flexible training plan for a puppy.
I know that it cannot be at all rigid, more of a "checklist" ensure that at various times I am focusing on appropriate development of the puppy. I understand that it will be more a "development line" than a "time line": and that in many ways it will be up to the puppy and handler to set the pace.
My goals are obedience and agility. I am currently using the 3 Ellis dvds as training guides for the bh.
Are there any resources out there?
I feel that I can review resources on my own and come up with a plan. however if others have done this, then the plans of others would be a starting or reference point.
One objective is to keep me going with training when life gets busy, so I don't have to think too much before taking dog out for training at 6 am, or 10 pm as the case may be.
I am in an area without experienced active dog trainers. I started a group of three to train for bh. I expect to start on agility training next year and am already doing some foundation work. We are all novices.
