Did the vet say to include veggies? I would worry about that because they can be a little gassy. If you can make the bones paste, I guess that may go along the lines I'm thinking. I'm just wondering if she's wolfing things down so that any chunk could be bothering her throat. Either re-irritating something allready there, or just a recurring problem.
How about Nature's Variety patties torn apart and spread so that she may lick them up?
Those are good ideas that Steve mentioned. I was just wondering if there is a way to help her slow it down, like her needing to lick her food, also something that is really ground up well, like the premade raw, because it might also let heal whatever is bothering her throat.
Would it be wise to hand feed her to get her to slow down?
My male when he was a pup, was a big gulper when he ate.
I taught him to slow down by holding the turkey necks in my hand and he eventually learned to eat slow and take his time, and also that I wasn't going to take his food away.
Just throwing out ideas. I really feel for you Ana, I hope something will help Connie.
None of the vets we've been to know enough about nutrition to give advice on raw diet other than small portions.
I thought to add about 1tsp of veggies with meals because Connie is huge fan of grass, used to eat it every time on the walks (there is a patch of oats along the trail) without problem. Right now there are foxtails and ticks everywhere so we cannot let them eat grass outside. As alternative to veggies I could plant some wheat and oats for the dogs. Either way we could start with tiny amounts and monitor for gas till it comes out the other end. At this point I am scrutinizing every delivery to make sure everything got processed
Could try premade raw from the amazing local pet store.
Thank you Meredith. Connie is surely missing her marrow and knuckle bones but she gets all the yogurt she wants, including the goat milk variety. She is very happy and does not know what all the fuss is about.
Tripe!!! I've got a whole bunch of different chubs in the freezer! That's it! She's going to love it
