Actually it was the Spinger Spaniel I posted on in another thread. He was about 7 months old at the time. It was the standard issue wire crate. Maybe because he was younger he was able to get his arm in there. To this day they have no idea how he managed to do it and get it back out. All without a sound. They did buy a VariKennel immediately after this incident though.
First off Todd, give me a chance and I will reply. I do have a day job.
I mean that he sleeps on his "bed", meaning a big pillow on the floor. Also, I said "when I got him" he couldn't walk. He has regained muscle strength in his legs, although not to the extent I think it should be.
I said this before and I'll say it again, I am buying that obedience tape. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again, Pam
P.S. Thanks Dogma
UGH!!!! Clicker Training, Again until this GSD learns OB from Ed's Tape the Trainer is being Trained. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Comment on crates: My GSD and Akita both go into 1 crate at their leisure together. This door is kept open unless strangers visit.
Comment on outside kennels: Each dog is kenneled
during the day in a 10' x 10' kennel that are next to each other. The gate between these kennels are kept open.
The only issue here is the human becoming the ALPHA to this GSD, bottom line. Until then problem after problem will pop up. The sooner this is done Buster (the GSD) will become trainable.
All the tapes, books, suggestions are for naught if the owner can not become the ALPHA.
But what do I know, except my dogs obey any and all commands, The Akita is an exception she dosen't like to out all the time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
I've rambled on enough.
Back to you trainers, which I agree with what you have all said, almost!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Pam, please set up a video to see where the dog sleeps. I am curious. It is not that I don't believe you. But, in order to help we need all the facts. Is the dog sleeping on furniture or not. My guess is it starts on the pillow, but around midnight...
Just keeping this topic current. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Todd has a few questions he wpould like answered. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
