We got a few fleas, so I have been vacuuming like crazy, everyone has had a fresh dose of frontline and both dogs just had a bath.
Nico is severely allergic to fleas and already has some nasty spots cropping up on her already irritated cancer skin. So I went ahead and gave her a prednisone and will do the normal 5 day routine of 3,2,1,1/2,1/2,1/4. Normally we do 1/4 every other day as a cancer treatment, but the vet has ok'd this 5 day course in cases of severe itch outbreaks.
The only itch spray I have has cortisol in it and I don't want to double on steroids so I was considering sprinkling her bad spots with some gold bond powder to help soothe and cool it.
I thought I might also put a drop or two of lavender oil in it to help soothe and repel any of the remaining nasty fleas.
Is this safe? I am finding mixed reviews of gold bond usage on animals.

I've used it on yeasty skin dogs to help with residue, so yeah. It works and you could use it. I would suggest either their baby powder or plain.
Just make sure to use unmedicated. The medicated stuff burns like crazy.
That's funny you say it burns - never heard that. I have used it, with the blessing of several vets, for years on hot spots on several different dogs. They never act like it burns at all, in fact when I get it down they run right over. I've also used it on myself for things and never had it burn. Maybe it's different for everyone! We love gold bond - the green medicated one. It has dried up many a hot spot!
