My one year old female malinut has a weird little behavior that's not a problem but I always wonder what it is about. She likes to run "laps" in our yard and has a defined route that she takes almost every time. As she reaches each end of her lap she does a ferocious bark. Seems pretty normal for an typically charged malinois right? But the thing is she ONLY does this when I come out in the yard. Anyone else in our household can be out there and she does not do this. As soon as I come out she gets ramped up, looks to make sure I'm watching and then takes off. I don't encourage this or pay any attention to it and she's being doing it since I got her. Maybe I just make her crazy? she certainly makes ME crazy some days. I just thought if anyone had a guess it would be you guys!
She has basically set herself an agility course with the hedges. Same deal, she zooms around the hedges in a set pattern of weaves and circles and then for the big finish she jumps up on the deck, skipping all the steps of course.
Maybe its just fun!
eta: when my dog does this she is usually trying to convince the 5 year old english bulldog to chase her. yeah right!
My two Mals see me as their "person." They love Paul, but they will display behaviors for me that they won't do for Paul. For instance, Toni will run up to me full speed, do a sliding stop into a play bow at my feet, jump straight up in the air, spin around and sprint about 50 yards. Then repeat it about 5 times. Both Toni and Cat will do "hot laps" around the house outside. It's like a race, and whoever gets to me first gets the belly rub. They don't do this unless I am outside with them.
I have found that living with Mals is never boring. When you think you have them figured out, they do some other weird crap to get you thinking again. I love it; they keep me young.

Thanks everybody for confirming that this is "normal crazy".
Kelly, I totally agree too that this has something to do with me being her "person". My male is such a different personality than her, she always has me guessing what's going on. She also chases her tail any time I sit down. Little weirdo. My poor Dan really wanted her to be his pup but I spend too much time with her and I think I must be "her person" too.
Thanks for all the reassurance team!
