Hi Stepanie, and welcome to the forum. Is your dog aggressive to ALL animals or is he selectively aggressive? What types of training have you been using? A bit more info and I know you will get some great help.
He is aggressive to all animals with one exception. My in laws have a 2 yr old female that he is dominant with but not aggressive to (if that makes sense). They have recently brought a new GSD pup into their family and Beast (our GSD)has been extremely aggressive to the point that we have to crate him.
A bit of background.......He comes from titled parents and has a high prey drive. He has had basic obedience and does very well except when you put other animals in the area. We have tried pronged collars, dominant collars, and e-collars(we have purchased the videos from here). He simply will not listen with an animal distraction.
Today, Beast busted through the front door after another dog that was across the street, hitting a man and knocking him down.
My husband and I have had several GSD and previously trained SAR dogs, but we have never NOT been able to solve a problem. We are smart enough to know when we have a big problem and need help.
Boy, thats very serious Stephanie. My Rott went through the screen a couple of times going after squirrels. That was into the back yard and didnt involve any danger to people or other dogs. I used the ecollar to stop him.
Don't compare him to your other dogs, you really need to be more pre-emptive with a dog like this in his obedience. If he's not focused and under control before he sees whatever he will react to, you're too late.
You need to use distance to make those commands solid. Sit,look at me ,down, etc.. keep him at a distance that allows him to focus on you and learn and where you can enforce those commands without turning it into a big fight.

Totally agree. Very serious aggression. Eliminate the behavior as you would any life threatening actions (chasing cars, livestock, wildlife).
E-collar – high setting, long-line securely fastened. Have someone walk by with a reaction causing dog while doing engaging obedience. When dog lunges for the attack, compulsively correct. Repeat until eliminated.
