What an eventful week. Anyone else dancing with wildfires? BC is burning.
That aside, work, taking in a couple of dogs for evacuated friends and all the company this weekend, me shaving Garrett was just not going to happen. However, I do want to give huge kudos and a great big thanks to Melissa T. What a wealth of information she is. She sent me a full list of grooming supplies and videos to help with the process and what the final outcome should look like. I think with her guidance I may have been able to do it….. however….
I did try to track down some of the equipment – this was a priority at the beginning of the week. Armed with a couple of pictures of Garrett, I spoke with a few groomers (networking is such a wonderful thing). Besides a bunch of different opinions, one recommended a lady in my area. She’s retired but does take on the odd customer.
Well long story short, Garrett and I had an appt at her home last Friday morning at 9:00. We walked out of there at 1:30 completely exhausted. This lady was 76 years old and a feisty old gal. Thanks to all Melissa’s information I was able to have a great discussion with her throughout the process.
It was a 4 ½ hour labor of love on her part. She took such great care with him, I was truly impressed. I held him and worked with her through the whole process, except for the shower. That was just too funny.
She was dressed in capri’s and a smock, but when he was done and it was time to bath him, she came out in cotton shorts and a light T-shirt. Grabbed a bucket of supplies and had me lead Garrett to her washroom. She has a shower with the sliding doors. I helped her get Garrett in the tub; she grabbed her bucket and closed the doors. I asked if there was anything I should do and she said “Nope, I’ll be out in about ½ an hour.” Her hubby entertained me with fishing stories, orange juice and homemade oatmeal raisin cookies. He was such a card, totally took my attention off what was going on in the shower - which seemed to be fine, I didn’t hear a peep out of him.
Okay, this is far too long already; does anyone want to see my little white lion? I'll have to get the pictures uploaded.
Yes, it's kind of like a whisker burn, road rash. He's licking it quite a bit. He lets me touch it and doesn't flinch but he always seem to be down there.
