Took Kaiser for his check up after two weeks of the vet prescribing steroid based drops, the vet wanted him muzzled, I already had the prong on, he has never been muzzled before and didn't like it one wee bit, threw me and the female vet round the room like rag dolls, we are both around 5ft-ish, chucked himself on the floor screaming a hissy fit, finally managed to get him looked at, and to our relief, clear and clean, nothing in the inner ear, no gunk, no infection, so the vet is pleased the drops worked, except I didn't use the last lot, just kept him out of the long grass, removed anything remotely likely to contain grain or yeast from his diet and stopped sticking things in his ear, such as the tip from the dropper bottle, which was inevitably coated in gunk, which pressumably could introduce whatever the problem was right back into the ear, the vet said we should think about sedating him and washing his ears out once a month, errmmm?? NO! I still think it was a seasonal thing, the hay and straw have now been cut, the wheat and corn, which all the Boerboels eat in great quantity right out of the fields, has been harvested, I'm not being complacent, but my instinct is the worst is over. Later on I was telling our breeder what happened and she said Kaisers'grandaddy hated ear drop treatment, and threw his owner and her husband across the room, knocking the 6ft5, built like a barn police officer husband out cold, so I felt quite pleased with myself hanging on to the oaf! Going to practice Connies' treat and treat method regularly, I don't want a repeat of tonight, he created such a noise, the whole waiting room was smiling broadly at us as we came out, oh the shame!

Tracey
