hi i have a 9 month old cane corso still in tack on a lonng line in the house . i was using a prong collar to corect him but this seemed to make him more agressive so i switched him to an e collar on a low seting for his barking at people in my car and at work and for the past 2 days after condition him to the collar . now he will just lift his leg and pee on stuff why hes looking right at me i would say its more off him marking then actualy peeing on stuff so i guess what im asking should i give him a corection with the collar for this and take him out side or just tell him no and put him out and is this normal when switching a traing collar or is he just testing me now because he is maturing more
I would say that he is just figuring out what marking is...its not peeing in his mind....go back and rehouse break him....
Ed has articles on this on the main site.
You will have to tether him and watch him like a hawk...I'd start with a verbal correction and see if that works.....or train him with markers to sit and then give the sit command when you see him starting to mark...then give a good boy and take him outside and command him to potty there.
yea i was thinking it was marking and not the introduction to the new collar i probly have just missed some of the marking going on because i let him roam around the house on a 20 fooot line but ill just keep it a bit shorter so i can keep a close eye on him
I am very sure the site info is great and I would go with it.
I have to say I love boys at this age of innocent since it is ideal time to startle their thinking back into their brain. I usually just go with a loud, authoritative (not yelling or screaming) "WHAT are you THINKING?" and whisk their beautiful selves outside.
Mine started this a few weeks after I got him. He had never had an accident, so I let him roam freely in the late evening and sleep with me. THis was a HUGE mistake on my part to do this so soon. (see earlier thread)
I also believe it was more of a marking thing, as he loves to sprinkle the world with his urine everytime we leave the house.
SOme of the suggestions to me were to take away water by a certain time in the evening, (my accidents were at night) and to just go back to step one with crating and supervision. I actually think he's got the point now, but since I'm bad to rush things, I'm sticking with the supervision and crating when not watching closely, (like cooking dinner ect...)I hated the idea of crating him more even for short periods of time, but he doesn't seem to mind and it has eliminated the problem.
I was not familiar with what a cane corso is so I googled it. Wow, what a pretty dog!" Now I have something new to read about!
