I've been spending a lot of my free time lately smoking stuff (no... not that stuff), but rather chicken, salmon, crab, turkey, etc. I'm always looking for ideas of what to give a try in the smoker.
So far stuff I've enjoyed:
whole chicken
chicken legs
sockeye and coho salmon
crab
turkey legs
pork ribs
Didn't meet my expectations:
brisket
I've got a pork shoulder I'm going to give a run with next but I'd like to put a few more things in. Any suggestions?
How about whole turkeys? If you lived closer I'd give you some. We used to raise them when our sons were home. Have quite a few in the freezer getting freezer burnt.
They seem too brittle for RMBs, don't feel like de-bone-ing them, so they just seem to live in the freezer....
If anyone lives near me and wants to feed these send me a PM.

If you smoked that brisket less than 18 hours you did it incorrectly.

I think the major error I made with the brisket is that it was a half brisket instead of the full brisket.
It wasn't horrid, it just wasn't worth the effort that was put into making it. I'll probably give it a run again when I find brisket on sale again. I just didn't think it was as good as the corned beef I could have made with it. I love corned beef though.

I'll be trying turkeys this fall when they're giving them away around thanksgiving so long as this load of wood holds out.
