After my male GSD was over vaccinated and suffered from vaccinosis, I became totally anti-vax. Dogs get rabies and that is it. But now that we are aquiring a new pup soon, I am confused. If I follow Dr. Dodds protocol, what about de-worming? The schedule does not mention it, unless I missed it.
Worming isn't vaccinating, so it probably isn't in Dodd's vaccine protocol.
I do like Lisa does. If there is a problem, I treat it. Otherwise there is no need for worming. It has been a few good years since Turbo needed worming.
I DO give a heartworm med, which also controls some other intestinal worms. Heartworms are bad here this year. Many even getting past the preventatives.
Of course I use heartworm preventative also along with flea protection. But I guess I did not think about worming not be a vax. I just do not want new puppy given vaccines too early or given vax that are not needed. Been down that road already. Thanks.
I am not sure if anyone here uses it, but I have heard that FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth is natural anti-wormer. I would be interested to hear if others use it as well.
This has been discussed before, so to help you get all that info, I'm going to direct you to the search function.
In the upper left hand column above the German shepherd siloute, you will see a search Leerburg block. In that block type DE or Food Grade DE and it should pull up the threads on this topic.
