As an update on this post... She is doing really good! She still is figuring it out but now she will pull me all around. We had a great training practice last night (including giving the toy back). I am now putting a "whoa" into the mix. I think the x back harness would be great... I might make my own when I feel we are really ready to RUN Right now she seems to do great with the regular harness.
Thats good to hear Elizabeth! You guys are killing me... I just got the book "Tracking from the Beginning" and was looking forward to working on that after the first of the year. This post is making me think I'd also love to try this!
(although I have NO idea where we could actually do it - trail wise)
Sounds like you're doing great Elizabeth. So is it just a regular nylon harness you're using as well? I'm finding it digs into him quite a bit when he starts to pull. I can see where the X Back is something that's needed. This Leerburg one almost looks like it would do the trick too though.
And Barbara, Isn’t this near you? She's become a bit of an inspiration to me.
LOL!! I'm surprised you didn't see us in the background - that is where I take Falcon most often!! (GREAT place to train "leave it" as a puppy due to all the horse poo!) I was thinking "trails" as I saw on a few of the Youtube videos I saw earlier and didn't even think of Colonial Williamsburg. Thanks CJ!
LOL... well if you happen to see this gal toddling along with her pup tell her I say HI and what a wonderful demo she did on Youtube. It's really helped with the visual .
And yup, lots of poop on them streets. A puppy's dream until the "leave it" comes into play of course.
I understand the digging part. She doesn't pull much though yet, it is just used for training. I do have one like the one on the video that I made that is for pulling the kids cart. It is not a tight fit so I also planed on getting the one you posted from leerburg or one similar.
