My questions is this. What should I do if a dog is hell bent on approaching and a dog fight is unavoidable? Do I let mine off the leash so they stand the best chance of defending themselves? Obviously this is if I know I cant avoid the fight and because its 3 dogs it makes it harder to break it up. Or do I keep mine restrained and do the best I can to break it up no matter what?
Do you typically walk alone with your two or does a family member go with you? I often bring an extra slip lead along with me in hopes that if need be I could lasso the loose dog and avoid physical contact. If alone I suppose I would attempt to keep mine leashed and tied to an object and 'wheelbarrow' the loose dog away. Tough situation. Thoughts??
Aimee, I'm with you! I almost always have a cheap slip-lead in my pocket. I also keep spare collars/leads, and horse halter/leads in my trunk though. Ya just never know when you may need them!!
Today, on my early walk, I saw a dog a way off before Chico saw him, So I turn the scooter around, had to do this twice. So I was real piss. I got in my van and stroll the neighborhood, did see the dog maybe, on his way back home. Anyway the real reason I am piss is I think this is about the fourth time in different areas that Chico and myself had to get in with other dogs, owners are always on the I'm sorry. But now Chico is stooping, lunging, and real aggressive, no longer selling woof tickets, that was yesterday incident. I once again went back home. I am tired of this. OK. Pepper spray, bug spray will be in our possession after training tomorrow. I love dogs, but I also follow the law. and I get in another frame of mind as people don't care about the leash law. I am taking my frustration out on the keys. Oh, I also walk by purposely were a GSD is fenced, always jumping and barking, just so I could train Chico not to be so intense in that area. I am trying.
