She has never been agressive towards people including small children, she practically steers clear of non-fur animals. She is in a kennel due to her agression, and listens fine when other dogs are not there, but the site of one turns her from Jekyl to Hyde.I have a shock collar and the other day she was with the trainer and we muzzled her for the safety of the other dogs and she became agressive almost immediately and then the trainer shocked her and had to keep turning it up and finally had to take her away! She acts like the collar is not even there when she is MAD. I am going to send her to a trainer who has more experience with this sort of thing and see how she does, i hate to give up on her. Thanks you all, i will keep you posted, Kari
I had an exact same problem wit A GSD female too. She was never socialized, and I mean never, I got her at a year of age. and it was really hard to remove this aggresive tendency. It takes a lot of patience walking her with other properly socialized dogs, and I never, even now feel confident when there are other dogs around. By the way, this is my first post, so hello everyone. Good luck on this one!
If you use the electric then I would also put an invisible fence on the chain link fence. A friend of mine did this for a dog that visits and jumps over the deck and out of the yard. It's worked. They lined the fence with the wire and showed the dog the boundary and now he stays several feet away from the chain link. This would stop her from eating the chain link and help with any aggression when your not there to supervise. Just a thought.
