Looking for advice on supplementing 3 week old puppies. Seems mom only wants to feed like 3xs a day or so. I think she just wants to feed at nite when theres nothing else going on, and everything is quiet. The 3 adults are on raw feeding, I'm not sure at 3 weeks what or how to supplement them. Maybe like ground up chicken and formula gruel?
I just know that many people have said that Ed's recipe for puppy formula is the best.
Sorry I can't help you more. Hopefully this will help.
Best wishes with the new liter and the momma!
Are the puppies crying a lot between feedings? If not they are probably getting enough to eat. If they are hungry I would use Ed's puppy milk recipe. They are also old enough to eat some meat. You can grind it or they will suck/gum on a hunk of meat.
thanks Debbie, I difinitely think there hungary. I'm off to walmart to pick up some goats milk, and yogart. The other stuff I have. Thanks for your help. You think chicken rather than beef for meat to gum on?
A friend of mine mentioned clipping the puppies nails just today also. I havent done it yet , I will tonight though seeif it helps. I fed them earlier after I went to walmart and everything went well, but as it looks I am going to have to get up about 2and half hours early to go to work it seemed like it took forever to get all of them fed. I have to be at work at 6oo, so a quarter til 4 or 4oo seems awful early, If I put it in a bowl and let them all eat at once it gonna be a hugh mess. If I feed 1 at a time it takes so long. They are eating out of the bowl not a bottle. they didnt like that bottle thing at all. Thanks for all the help.
I feed green tripe by GreenTripe.com that early as I wean at four weeks, someitmes a little later (I'm a wuss)! Don't worry about cleaning them as they will clean each other or Mom will. You'll never see a plate so clean and you'll have a new understanding of food drive :-)
