The dog doesn't have to eat the rabbit to get tapeworm. The fleas on the rabbit are the carrier.
Dog catches rabbit, swallows a couple of hitchhikers, gets tapeworm!
I wish it was genius... alass, my dad could do more with duct tape and panty hose than you could imagine - it is more "insane" rather than genius on my part. And before you go freakin' out, I'm talking a filter for a goldfish pond...

True, good call. I should have pointed that out more clearly. like I mentioned before, my dog never ate the rabbits, but still did get tapeworm. I think you still should get him some praziquantel (droncit), it's specific for tapeworm, and works like a charm.

Us fish people are good at rigging stuff up when needed LOL.
I just remembered that I was at a hardware store the other day that had little square flashlights, something like that wrapped in Black tape with the light showing would look pretty darn convincing IMO.
What about an old pager? I'm sure you could find one somewhere... that would look pretty close I think. And you could use a remote control from a toy car from a second hand store!
