Cat, try different medications, and see what helps him the most.
I'd try tramadol, or even plain old Bayer aspirin, which is a potent pain killer in the dog, and does not "mess" with their thinking. Give it with food, and perhaps a Pepcid to protect his stomach.
Thanks ladies! I will definitely give one of those a try, its come to a point where I am wanting more to just help his pain now...
Connie I've yet to meet a vet who doesn't get downright offended when I ask questions(i try to word it so I dont sound like im questioning them) and i've bin to lots of vets in my time....just my experience, of course there are great vets out there!
Buddy has fleas, ugh, whats the best method here for an old dog? We tried the all natural thing to no avail......

Watch the pepsid if you are still feeding raw....Connie pointed out that it messes with the speed raw gets through their system.....and can cause problems.
Alternative tip from my vet: an aspirin that avoids having to give Pepcid as well is the Bufferin brand of buffered aspirin, always given with food. Our 14-year old Airedale mutt with arthritis and spondylosis did well on this for the last year of his life.

Yeah, you do not want to feed raw and give an antacid at the same time ... the very caustic stomach acid that is one of the dog's big two mechanisms against food pathogen illness would be altered (the other weapon being the short fast digestive system, which doesn't give pathogens the time and opportunity to settle down and raise kids -- colonize -- the way our looooong convoluted GI tract does).
Cat, you know that aspirin is an NSAID, right? Tramadol would probably be my choice between the two. JMO.
Thanks everyone for the neverending wealth of information!!!
Connie, I will try to get Buddy some Tramadol soon! Hoping I can get it cheap from the vet my work uses(fingers crossed)lol, Im in the poorhouse these days
