And is it a good program? What does it mean to you guys when you see it on a dog's resume? I get that they do Protection work, but how does a P-3 compare its equivalent in Mondioring or Schutzhund?
I ask because I'm going to go see a kennel tomorrow and all the kennels in the area do SDA instead of those others but I don't really know what to think about it or what to look for.
What have you guys heard about Service Dogs of America?

I train for SDA and like the program. That being said there is good and bad in any sport.
It is a much smaller organization then Schutzhund or Mondio so you don't get the recognition you would get with either of those. I think it is going to continue to grow but who knows? Being smaller and newer there is also the possibility of it disappearing like ASR and a couple of other sports I can think of.
That being said I think in the higher levels it is more of a test of the dog. I also like that the beginning titles are more entry level for new people and maybe even more practical. The protection alert does not have a bite. Your dog alerts on command, alerts on a threat and you demonstrate thru the ob portion that you have control of your dog. And isn't that pretty much what we tell most people that is what they need>
I also enjoy personal protection training so that's a big plus for me.
