If anyone noticed my earlier posts, I have 5 (count 'em) mixed breeds....three in crates in the house who get walked together and two outside in crates who get walked as a pair. Each gets individual (albeit short) training.
I must be gone for 11 days in November - it's medically required. Can my better half look after them by taking them out to potty? Can she continue some of the training (e.g., sit/stay before going out or in the door or crossing the street?
Would it be better to board a couple or three of them . . .?
I certainly don't what her having to take over all the training as she wouldn't want to do it anyway. But, she could feed and let them out to potty correctly.
Eleven days is a long time!

I think the dogs can go 11 days without training. Dogs don't forget in that much time. Worst case scenario training wise they just need some heavy refreshing.
If she can walk the dogs that would be great. But are the dogs going to be in crates all day except for their walks?
Would it be better to board a couple or three of them . . .?
I would personally not board if your wife is home. It is far less stressful for dogs to remain in their own environment with just a schedule change over a brand new, loud, strange place with EVERYTHING changed. They'll be fine at home without training!
Best of luck with your "travel" plans - hope all goes well.
Agree! Let them stay home and let your wife do whatever she knows how to do correctly and feels comfortable doing for the dogs. They'll be fine and happy (maybe!) to see you when you return.
I say "maybe!" because one time when i left a dog with my parents while I was away, the dog basically wasn't "speaking" to me at first when I returned. LOL
GREAT advice 'cause it's essentially what I want to do anyway. Julie is GREAT with all animals. She is a pack leader by instinct - no kidding. She ran a wildlife center in Dallas County a number of years ago. Shoot, I follow her! She's my pack leader! :-)
I've been humbled by my experience with the five dogs over the last few months and with the knowledgeable people here. Some of my questions may seem obvious to a lot of you, but my fundamental assumptions about dogs/humans and the universe have been upset!
Now a tech question about the board . . . how can I set topics for notification when I get a reply?
Thanks again Katie, Michael, Barbara and Elaine.

See "topic options" up near the top of the screen when you are logged in (and viewing a thread -- not just "new posts" or forum list or something; you must be in the thread you want to watch)?
One of those topic options on the drop-down menu is "add to watched list." Then you get emails.
