I started showing my 18 mths old male BRT a couple of months ago, at most of the shows there is a woman with a huge young male great dane who seems to have no obedience training at all (her or the dog)from observing the way he drags her all over the place with her screaming STOP, SIT at the top of her voice. He drags her up to other dogs and just leans over them using his size and weight to intimidate them. I keep well out of her way but she managed to bushwack me one day when I was`nt looking in the right direction. I have voice control of my dog as well as a decent lead for outside of the ring instead of the woosy little bit of string called a show lead that most walk their dogs around on at these "fun" events. I expect instant obedience to any command I give my dogs no matter what the provacation and even though Stryka did`nt like it he behaved like a gentleman to this rambunctious youngster and just ignored him as if he was all alone and the GD was`nt even there. A couple of weeks later the Dane spotted us again and started the drag and dash towards us, Stryka saw him coming, sat down, shook the hair out of his eyes and just gave him THE LOOK. The Dane stoped in mid stride, looked back and then turned and took off in the other direction so fast that his owner lost her footing and ended up being draged along the ground. The dog did`nt stop until he got back to their car, about 100 yards, and for some reason no one bothered to try to stop him. Hav`nt seen her at any of the shows since then. This dog was a big problem and would have become worse as he got older, her reply to anyone who tried to tell her was " he`s only being friendly". Well I think he got Stryka`s FRIENDLY message, I am sure Stryka remembered him and knowing he would not be allowed to retaliate did his own thing anyway.

As far as the Mace / OC argument.........anyone determined, despite respitory and other incapacitaion factors, NEITHER can be deterent to either a determined or otherwise influenced individual, personal experience cited.
In so far as "memory".......isn't all training one variety on either behavior modification or stimulus / response anyway?
