I could try. He's a SWEET old man. Like 75+ yr old guy.... with a 90+ lb GSD. Cracks me up to see them walking together. I'm not sure he'd be receptive to advice from me- we've talked some before (chatting about bloodlines, etc) and he's had GSD/working dogs his whole life. I may give it a shot though.
George, I'm sorry to have hijacked your thread!!
I've seen the harness used (and I would only use them, personally) while walking a dog. Maybe help to teach loose leash walking/discourage pulling, but I would not use them in a daily training setting, for obedience. I'd stick with a flat collar, martingale style if needed, or a prong. (I'm in love with my new 'power-steering' prong)

Yes, and like a prong collar, they should be a tool applied with training, not solely relied upon to stop a pulling problem.
I like these harnesses because they nicely compliment a marker-training system, and they're pretty hard to abuse.
While I'm good with proper use of a prong and use one myself, I've seen a lot of rough handling by inexperienced folks using them WAY too easy to go right for the correction instead of taking the time to teach the dog the desired behaviour.
Using this harness during the learning phase of any behaviour gives the handler a bit of leverage but takes the possibility of a premature or undeserved correction right out of the equation for the dog.
