Great article. I was reminded of it today when my 16 yr old daughter and her friend were taking our 2 GSDs for a walk on our local green belt. My daughter had our dog aggressive 14 mos old male and her friend was walking our 6 yr old female. A small dog being walked off-leash came charging up to them while the owner came closer with yet another little dog, laughing and saying it's OK, he's friendly! My daughter told her that's great, but this one isn't. She still wouldn't leash the dog or pick him up.
That silly woman has no idea how close she came to having a dead or seriously injured dog. My daughter was able to control our pup, but he would dearly have loved to chomp that dog. I still can't believe the woman would let her little dog run barking madly straight at 2 GSDs ... it's like a death wish.
I live on a farm and have had friends drive up and let their dogs out "for a nice run in the country" without asking... talk about problems...they chase the cows, chase my cats, chase my horses not to mention the uproar it causes with my dogs and then want to be mad when I make them leave with the dog with instructions not to ever bring the dog back for a visit.
I am truly amazed at what so many dog owners don't know about "man's best friend"!
You can shoot them here also, but would hate to do that unless absolutely neccesary. Like if it happened more than once. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
This is getting off topic. It is also three pages long now, so it is CLOSED..
Make sure you know for a fact that you can shoot dogs for chasing livestock or wild animals. Lots of people say that here too, but guess what, they are WRONG.
