Thanks for asking!
The website with all this info is still under construction...one reason I have been quiet about it.....
We are researching and planning lots of stuff...
I didn't want to bug people.....
The program is that a trainer will select and oversee the training of the dogs.
It is legal to owner train a service dog...assuming that the dog will meet the ADA's standards of behavior and task performance.
What we will do is oversee and teach the Vets to train their own dog.
We will have written course work..I'm going to use videos possibly the service dog clicker training one...I haven't decided....I'm really leaning toward Ed's videos because he is so clear and concise.
We will meet on a regular basis (once a week or once every two weeks)for practical application lessons..hands on stuff.
Sort of weekend seminar style.
There will be leveled certifications that the participants must meet before advancing to the next level of the course.
It will be a 2 year program.
There is much much more involved than I originally thought!!!!
It's taking a bit longer to form our plan and get the paperwork together and such....
Connie has been a dream with lots of advice, and I have Ana working on the application....
I have had lots of people offering to help and advise.....
I'm so thankful for that!!!!!!!
I'm starting to get to the point where I will be calling on people with stuff for them to do....
It's a slow process.
