My family is from Minneapolis MN, and my mom was just telling me about this story this morning.
It sounds like they got all the perpetrators, and I hope Major got the chance to get a good bite on the one who stabbed him!
I wanted to mention that I heard in days prior, this K9, Major, had just received an award for his work on the police force.
Atta boy Major ! I hope he heals fast and gets better soon.
I just found out some more info about K9, Major. I was talking again with my mom, and she said poor Major was stabbed in three places; face, neck and chest but the worst part.. was hit with a crow bar on his back! Major is still in critical condition and the vet is saying they are not sure if he will make it.
Damned criminals! I know this comes with the territory of being a K9 but I just feel so badly for Major. Major is 9 years old. Hang in there boy!
News last night said that Major was awake and alert. He is still unable to stand and the vets are unsure if this is just temporary due to the swelling near the spinal cord or if it will be permanent.
He is alive and recovering at the University of MN Vet Hospital. He has a small amount of motor function in his hind legs and he has been in the underwater treadmill and on the stability ball to help improve his function. The vets say that it will be 6 weeks to 6 months before they know if the damage is permanent.
There was video of him on the treadmill and with is partner at his side. He appears to be happy Try as I might, I can't find the freaking video. It was on Kare 11 news if anyone wants to try to find it.
