have never done weaves, trainer mentioned the growth plates issue clearly, ready to start 2x2 training. have done A-frame and jumps but not repetitively, dog will only do 2 local trials/year for fun so no forced excercise will ever happen.
the herding club does not allow BC's (a bit racist i know) it is more of a social club/interest group. the work they do is built around the GSD's original purpose (lest we forget), suits my dogs herding style more than trial work on 3 sheep as in the AKC style herding, every herding org has differnt focus.
yes off-leash; people use a leash herding?? sounds like a wreck waiting to happen, where do you stand relative to your dog? have i misread your question? should we move this to the herding thread?

I was confused as your comment sounded like you and your dog were not in the arena with the sheep, that your dog had to go and save the demo dog ... if not working, then yes, I would imagine the dog should be leashed.
yes the agility trainer is good, did she set you up for that post i am thinking hmm, she gets annoyed with all the pet owners that want to come out first day and just use the obstacles without any flatwork and the leave after a few lessons becuase they have to do the control work first. she trials all BC's in agility. i substitute basic agility training for obed mostly - control is control - just different ways to achieve it.
