We used to have a neighbors dog that would not stay out of our yard. He also killed some chickens. I didn't see him do it, but he was in the area. Animal control picked the dog up, but the owners still did not keep the dog in their yard, even after he got hit by a car. I finally got fed up and caught the dog. I found him a nice home with a fenced yard. I'm happy and so is the dog.
Ahh...Kim, you old softie! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
And Ian...hehehe " You boss- him not. Capisce?" Hehe...I need to use that quote sometime <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Will-
I really would not recommend making a complaint like that to the police just to get a response. I'll tell you if I showed up to a complaint like that and arrived finding it's just a loose dog the people that called it in would get a stern warning about the dangers of calling in a false complaint. If animal control is working...they go...if not they can be called out depending on the circumstance.
Patrick,
After 5 years in law enforcement I had answered these type of calls frequently, as most likely you have also. If you read Carol's first post, she states " The dog has charged at me and my GSD while we're in our own front yard." My old chief would have no problem with us classifying this animal as a menace and dispatching it if it showed any aggression to the answering LEO. ( remember, I'm in a *very* rural area, and livestock harassment by dogs is very poorly tolerated in the county )
For a wandering dog that showed no threat, I wouldn't care two hoots about it, like most folks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
