OK, we posted at the same time. The marker is a usually an end of exercise, so when you say "yes" you are freeing her to do what she wants. Sounds like you need a bridge to tell her she's doing it right, but she's not done yet. So you can do the backing up, stop/sit, tell her she's doing well, keep going, then back up a few more steps to the mark and reward.
It also sounds like you might need to reward a little faster, if she's leaving you and the reward you have to go look for rewards somewhere else (the floor). Are you marking this as a negative, the rewarding her when she leaves the hunting on the floor and returns her attention to you?
If this is really causing a problem with your training, you might have someone show you how to train a "leave it" so she knows she can't pick treats up off the floor, and therefore there is no point in hunting for them.
From what the video shows the dog should be engaged with you the whole time. So even though she is free'd by the "yes" she should still be coming back to you for more. If I am understanding that correctly.
In the video ME moves backward to get the dogs attention and then stops and waits for the dog to focus on him. Then he says "yes" and moves backwards and treats on either side to further teach the dog that "yes" is a release word and build food drive (making it a game). He then repeats and the dog should be focused still because human has what the dogs wants. Basically teaching the dog "when I focus on him treats pop out" lol.
I do all of the above but my problem is when we are done with one exercise and she gets her treat she looks away instead of staying focused and then comes back for more instead of coming straight back. Now I know that the release should mean she is released but that does seem to be the case ME is showing in the video.

It is not and she does know "leave it" but I just know I must be doing something wrong because she doesnt seem to be as focused as what ME shows in the video. Maybe I am basing her results too much on what the video showed? They gave an example of a dog in the video that kept "checking out" and I would say that was/is Maggie to a T.

How long have you been working with the crumbless treats, if the dog learned to search for crumbs it will take a while to untrain that as well. Remember its eaiser to teach a new behavior than it is to reteach one. Be patient and dont worry that your dog isnt reacting like the ME video shows there all differnt and learn at differnt speeds. If you get 3 more seconds of focus everyday that is progress and keep at it. Deffinitly stay with soild treats til you get this sorted out. Another thought do you have any other dogs that are around while your training possibly the dog is worried someone else may get a treat she missed.
