Just keep in mind there are LOTS of working dogs, SAR dogs, and just plain ol' active pets with dewclaws. If they have not caused a problem up to this point, I'd leave them.
Some believe the dew claws are especially important in active/athletic dogs. There's video somewhere, which I can't seem to find right now, but in the interim, here's an article.
It's heresy in my breed to discuss dewclaw removal, so it's a subject near and dear to my heart. Our breed standard actually requires double dew claws on the rear feet. Ideally, they are very low set and function as extra toes. The Briard rear double dewclaws are actually well-formed, boney appendages, with pads and everything...just like regular toes.
I realize this discussion is about the front ones here though.
Also agree with everyone else who suggests waiting for *at least* a year to neuter a male puppy, chryptorchid or not.
