hello everyone this is my first time on this forum and i just wanted to say "I LOVE THIS SITE"!!! Ok now that ive gotten that out of the way i have a dilema that i was hoping one of you might be able to help me out with... i have been studying dog training independently for a bit and finaly decided to go to a formal dog training school(i was laid off due to down sizing and thought this time around i would go to school for something i love). after lots of research and careful consideration i decided to go to tom rose school. the only problem is that they are not federally accredited and so i cant get a student loan, and since i have no source of funds no bank will give me a personal loan. i was hoping maybe there were some tom rose graduates here that could tell me how they came up with the money or maybe just any help or suggestions from anyone with experience in this area. i would greatly appreciate it.
sincerely
angel manuel medina

Have you thought of Michael Ellis school? I know travel may a pain but he really is one of a kind. I know he will allow to pay with credit card and you can work at your own pace (not forcing all new information at once). It is obviouisly your choice and both schools are very good. Here is a thread we did on it a few months back.
ETA - I am sure you know this but I will be the first of many to say this...make sure you do not even consider Animal Behavior College (ABC). They will teach you nothing more than what is taught in a basic OB class. They will finance and I just didn't want you to get caught in that trap by any chance. I went there and spent a good amount for a basic ob class repeated 3 times.
Angel, I'm going to go the old fashioned route and recommend you get a few part time jobs if you can't land anything full time right now, and save the money for the class. I personally wouldn't go into credit card debt when unemployed (or employed for that matter) - that is just a recipe for disaster. (You miss one payment and your interest shoots up to 25%, etc... ) It will take you a bit longer but if you get crazy-serious about saving it does add up fast.

Best of luck!
She's right, I didn't really think about that. Save up! Good luck!
yea i have researched a lot of different schools and deffinitetly have heard about the terrible reputation of A.B.C.(animal behavioral college). from what i hear tom rose and triple crown are the two best schools in the country that actually have that school setting( i.e. dorms etc). also i did consider michael ellis school i have an incredible amount of respect for him as a trainer and watch ALL his training videos, its just that his school is more geared toward seminars and such as opposed to having like a 16 week curriculum his longest class is two weeks. also i was planing on getting a loan if possible i dont even have a credit card. my mind is kinda boggled though cause the woman i spoke with from tom rose told me most students who go there get personal loans which i dont qualify for due to not having a source of funds. but the shortest certification tom offers is 16- 20 weeks; im wondering how they got the loan cause they obviously arent going to be able to work while their at the school for 5 months, and i dont know of any job that will let you take that much time off...

Perhaps some of them had family who loaned them the $$ or they saved for it before hand?
