day 8; No siq. changes noted, even while traveling. Stll has the small cough when we walk(he tries to trot). Weight is back up now. I am releived at this point. I have my Christmas presenet, my dog is recovering nicely!!!!!
Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!
Sounds great but I was wondering about "when he tries to trot".
Is that something you've discussed with the vet? I would think trotting, even long walks would be out of the question.
Raising the heart rate to high is what can pump the dying worms into the lungs. That's the major danger in recovering from heart worm.
Bob, it is out of the question. I was just stating it since it was something he was trying to do. It is very hard to keep this dog slow. I have heeled him all over the yard just to keep him at a walk. He is limited right now to just potty breaks, no long walks, no more then necassary to get his business done. Then it is back to the crate.
Day 10. He seemed tired today. It may be all the traveling we have done. He has done great with no more coughing. My family was gracious to let me stay with them to keep the stress down on my boy.
We are plkanning for the next injection at this point. Should be around Jan 15th.
All is great with Dexter. No symptoms at all. We will continue to walk on leash and go from here.
The vets office called to check on things. We are set up for Jan 17th for the next injection. We are also adding Heartguard to the Advantage Multi for the next 6 mo. After 6 mo. we are testing again for heartworm status. My questions will be, after 4 more weeks in crate, when can we train again? What, if any restrictions?? If any of you have questions please let me know and I will be glad to ask.
