Ana Maria,
Did you get him from a responsible breeder? Have you discussed this problem with the dog's breeder? I'm not going to tell you what your decision should be. I believe that decision is up to you to make, but in my opinion, you have an obligation to keep friends, family, and the community safe. As much as you love your dog, you need to look at the big picture. Here's some recommended reading for you to draw your own conclusions from:
Ana - I have a German Shepherd and a Rottie/pit mix I love my two dogs, the public views these type animals as aggressive, we try change that when we meet the public. Because they were trained at a early age that this is not appropiate action. There is usually no problem, unles a situation exist warrants such action. They are relatively safe and I can take them out and there is no problems.
These are the best trained dogs overall that I've ever owned, I really care for them and vice versa.
But if I thought for a minute that they might be a mence to society, I'd put them down with tears in my eyes, I'd put them down or the one that had the problem. I know that it would hurt like hell, all the time I put in training, making mistakes and fixing them, its my fault that they don't heel straight or they jump from the top of the A frame. I've put a lot of time and effort into these animals to make them reliable when around public.
But if something happen where they started acting aggressive toward family or strange kids, for no reason and I couldn't stop it, I'd put them down.
You make up your own mind, but if a kids gets hurt that your fault too.
