This may seem like a stupid question, but it is asked out of ignorance. If I have told a dog to sit or down, why do I need to tell him to "stay" also. It seems that he should stay in whatever position he is placed in until release so what is the purpose of "Stay"?
Different strokes for different folks... I don't teach a stay, like you I expect the command to be held until releasesd, however some folks prefer the added "stay". I believe the command is required for Mondio ring - I might be wrong on the sport but I think I read that on another post recently.
