Alright, I know I never start threads, and rarely post on here.. I am more of a read and learn kind of guy but I CAN'T hold back my excitement!
The reason I am so excited is I have this Czech line GSD that I had imported for my sister, but some things changed with her living situation(house fire) and she could no longer care for her dog. She told me to take her, knowing I could care for her, and that I would train her. Ok, thats the story how I got her.
The story that makes me the 'most' excited is that I have been doing puppy rag work with her the entire time she has been in thsi country. Not as much when my sister had her as now that I have her. She is 14 months old now. I got her about... 4 months ago.
So, as I do the usual "puppy circle" type stuff, I am doing everything that I have learned in the SCH club that I used to go to. The thing missing from the rag work, and on up to the young dog soft sleeve is she WOULD NOT bark for a grip. Well two days ago, I figured out how to make the bark happen. I physically walked away from her, while enticing her with the sleeve.. and got a bark... rewarded her, then again.. same thing.. and now, I am building that bark for more barks before I reward with a grip.
I know, I sound all goofy, but I am just so happy that she FINALLY barks..
Anyway, enough of the rambling, I need to go work that bark.lol
Is she another Jinopo dog? I know that you like them.
Funny...I have more trouble getting them to be quiet after teaching them to bark on command.
When I start training something new...that is the first behavior they both start offering when they know we are going to train. They are always looking for way to get an easy reward. Gotta love it!
Yes, Anne, she is another Jinopo dog. Her name is Eliska od Roubenky. Solid black and out of Ox Jirkova Dvora. A grand daughter of Illo von der Abfuhr. Nice masculine head but a female. A little larger than my other female from them, but.. I am not to worried about that even though I do like a smaller more compact agile dog. We'll see how she turns out. She just wouldn't bark for her grip, I got it now.
I am not to computer savy, so the pictures just might take me a little while. I tried to log into that freaking photbucket.. but man.. it says I already have an acct.. but do you think *I* remember the password.. HECK NO!
Give me some time, they will come...
Good luck with her. She must be a nice looking girl.
I liked the Jimpop girl that you had, when we met, a few years back.
At least she is still in the 'family'. :-) So your sister can still see her. Sorry to hear about her fire. Man that's gotta be one of the worse things to have happen to someone.
I have the same problem with photobucket...I just end up opening another account. I must have 3-4 by now. I don't use it that often so I never remember my password either.
I couldn't get the linc to come up...but I have been having trouble getting their site up on my computer for the last couple of weeks. Must be some glitch on my laptop. Copy it to a PM when you get a chance & send it to me.
Yay! Great job! I had to teach Koenig to bark by barking and growling at him, which didn't really work, and he wouldn't offer that behavior free shaping. I accidently stepped on his toe one day, and he didn't yelp, he BARKED. I eventually stepped on his toes (gently, I promise!) while marker training to get the Gib Laudt on command.
We're still working on NO gib laudt. I agree with Anne, the shut up command is MUCH harder to teach!
