I am the owner of a 2 year old GSD. We live in the country and he has the run of our yard. This weekend 2 of the neighbors dogs came on to our property and up onto our deck. Our dog(delon) was okay with this until my husband went out onto the deck. At this time Delon attacked the 2 dogs killing them both. We have talked with the neighbors and with our County and State police. He had not shown this aggression before. We believe he thought he was protecting my husband. I need some opinions!!!
Sorry, this has nothing to do with your dog protecting your husband, this was simply a territorial dispute that went seriously wrong.
I would be *very* worried that your dog killed both the other dogs. That shows a serious temperament flaw that can endanger anyone around this dog.
If you have children, or your neighbors have children, the dog needs to go, end of story with no further discussion. If there are no youngsters around, you need to confine the dog in a sturdy fenced in area for safety.
Again, if he was my animal, he'd be gone - the genie is out of the bottle in this case, and there's no going back from here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
