Well, I can see now why so many people join this board, post a couple of times and are gone.
I joined to ask a simple question of what I was led to believe are knowledgable people, who like to help others with dog issues.
A few people were really nice. But I was also told I am freakish, irresponsible, stupid, and apt to singlehandedly cause BSL in my community.
And when I become defensive, I am attacked even further for "dissing" y'all?
Yes, Rob, I came here for reassurance. I came here to be told what some folks very nicely did tell me; that Doc was right and not to listen to people who told me my dog was abnormal. I didn't come here to be the sacrificial lamb on the altar of know-it-all.
I doubt y'all will see me posting anymore, though I will be here to read. There is some valuable information to be found here.
I just want to leave you with a thought....I (and others, too,I'm sure) would be much more receptive to you people's advice if you didn't present it in such an ugly way. The gist of what I got from some of the posts here is "Do it my way, right now, or you're an idiot.". I point that out because maybe you don't realize how abrasive your words are.
I reread all my posts, and I am proud that I was never once insulting or less than respectful to others here.
Again, thank all of you for taking time to reply to my post and for the helpful information provided.
I reread all my posts, and I am proud that I was never once insulting or less than respectful to others here. I'm proud of you for that! I always try to be the same. A shame if you leave just cause some people aren't as considerate.
I'd stick around, take the good advice and the bad, and realize there is always a mixed bag of responses on any webboard.
Intelligent dogs rarely want to please people whom they do not respect --- W.R. Koehler
Some people get frustrated when they don't hear what they *want* to hear on a web forum.
We see a lot of people asking the same question several times, until some poster answers them in a manner that matches what they're looking for in an answer. We call that "shopping", since the poster in question will not accept an answer that they don't want to hear, regardless of the correctness of that answer.
If you post a question on an internet forum, a variety of people will answer. That goes with the territory.
I didn't see so much of an attack on you as I saw a lot of people bringing out worse-case scenario's to your attention. Sorry that was not what you were looking for.
