My parents have a ten week old GSD. She lives with my pit bull and is fine. Loves people as well. They took her to petsmart for the first time. One time she hid behind the owner at the sight of a dog. The rest of the time she got between the owner and the dog and growled and barked. Side not the bark was a deep one as if she were an adult. ears were up.
question one how do you determine if this is genetic or socialization.
how would you go about trainging both said sources.

If she's not timid and fearful all the time around the house, chances are this is more socialization than genetic. BUT you need hit the 'socialization' trail hard for the next few years! Particularly the first year they go thru stages, so one week they'll be great and the next the same situation will be very scary to them. We need to be consistant and the leader so they learn to look to us and cue from us to
make their judgements, rather than just reacting.
